Here is an example (unpublished) of a fit using the 3-Tau Model to a large set of tumorous/healthy murine tissue samples

The 3-Tau Model provided detailed information and insight.  An example is provided below.  The objective is to correlate 3TM fit outputs to (in this instance) the degree of disease progression.

Murine tissue interpreted using the 3-Tau Model.

The relaxation rate dispersion curve can be decomposed into two signals:

1) from tissue cells due to interactions between surface and pore water, and

2) from blood cells due to the interaction between the Fe(III) and the pore water.

Correlating 3TM outputs with a material property

The 3TM model allows connections between fit parameters and a property of interest to be found.

For example, the bulk water diffusion time constant decreases with increasing percentage of tumour tissue consistent with ingress of inter-cellular water into the cancerous cells.

The objective is to identify markers from the fit parameters for properties of interest (here the % tumorous tissue).
